Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare Bread Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the diced bread with the raisins.
  3. Melt Butter and Combine with Milk: In a small saucepan, melt 1/4 cup of butter over medium heat. Add the milk and stir until the butter is fully melted. This should take about 4–7 minutes.
  4. Soak Bread: Pour the milk mixture over the bread and raisins. Let it sit for 10 minutes to soak.
  5. Mix Pudding Ingredients: In a separate bowl, beat together the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Add this mixture to the soaked bread and stir to combine.
  6. Bake: Pour the bread mixture into a buttered 1.5-quart casserole dish. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
  7. Prepare Vanilla Sauce: In a small saucepan, combine the sugar, flour, milk, and butter. Stir constantly over medium heat until the mixture thickens and begins to boil, about 5–8 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  8. Serve: Warm the bread pudding and serve it in individual bowls, topped with the vanilla sauce.
  9. Storage: Store any leftovers in the refrigerator.

Enjoy your classic bread pudding with a touch of nostalgia and a drizzle of vanilla sauce!
